The Lodge
Scotty and his lovely wife Leya, own property ON the Mangles River bank, and have built “River Haven Guiding” to accommodate those with the same passion for fly fishing.
We’ve built a private bar on the property just steps from your cabin, in the main Lodge, for you to enjoy a cold beer or some of New Zealand’s finest wines and be able to "walk" home.
Organize a River Haven Guide, with everything you need included, from your rod, reel, waders, boots, rain jackets and of course your lunch. Return to the lodge for some wonderful NZ house wine and NZ craft beers! Enjoy socializing with other Lodge guests, and share your day’s fly fishing experience during great Pub conversations.

Whether you're fishing with Head Guide, Doug Corbett, Mark, or Scott "The Trout" or one of his experienced team of guides, River Haven Guiding is confident you will not be disappointed!
Transfers: River Haven Guiding can also arrange airport transfers as well. Please make arrangements in advance when you place your reservations. Send a copy of your itinerary prior to departure, so we can ensure your flight is arriving on time and be there to drive you to your exciting holiday in a private comfortable vehicle, not a bumpy bus!
“Brown Trout, Heaven on a Sage Rod!”
When we drove up to River Haven Lodge, the greeting we received from Scott & Leya was equal to an old friends' reunion & we were made to feel very welcome. The Cabin layout was exceptional and comfortable. The food prepared by Leya, was a gastronomic delight! The next morning, kitted out in thermo long-johns & boots & the vest in place, we headed off to the Mangles River, where, under the expert guidance & perfect fly positioning, by Scott "The Trout" Murray, I was transformed from a novice, into a Brown Trout Fly Fisherman with my first & largest catch, being a 5 & 3/4 pound Beauty!, followed by 3 more fantastic fish. I recommend River Haven Lodge to all fishing fanatics who wish to take on the Mighty Brown Trout. Thank you Scott and Leya.
